TW10: Delay in Casting Announcement

Thank you to all who came out to audition. Your talent and spirit was truly invigorating to witness over the two days!

Due to the new information about the prom scheduling issue and the need to allow a bit more time for potential actors to investigate their availability, the online casting announcement will be delayed from what was listed in the audition packet.

The goal now is to have the casting announcement posted here on the blog no later than Saturday 3/12 at 10:00p. 

Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this challenge.

GENERAL AUDITIONS ANNOUNCEMENT 

WHEN 

March 8 4:30p – 6:30p 

March 10 4:30p - 7:30p

WHERE 

On the Stage 

WHAT 

Auditions will consist of both vocal and movement work with an emphasis on how well actors collaborate with each other. Actors will be asked to read text (from scripts that will be provided no later than March 3) as well as devise work with fellow auditionees which will showcase their creativity and physical storytelling ability. 

CLOTHING 

-Actors must wear masks in the audition for COVID safety. 

-Actors must show up to auditions in clothing they are comfortable moving in. Dancewear and/or athletic clothing is strongly encouraged. 

 -Actors will be required to work barefoot during movement portions of the audition – not in socks, actually barefoot. 

AUDITION PACKETS / SIGN UPS 

Audition packets and the callboard sign-up sheet will go live no later than March 3. The packets need to be read thoroughly, and guardians must sign to give permission to participate. Actors should be prepared to attend both days of the auditions, but there will be some flexibility for actors who have conflicts – the audition packet will explain how to request special consideration should an actor not be able to attend both days.

ABOUT THE SHOW The world has been on hold… Restricted. Trapped. Prevented. Wracked with fear... What now? How do young people - teens on the bridge between adulthood and childhood – how do they dare now to peek their heads back out into the light - dare to hope, dare to aspire, dare to trust that reality can, once again, afford them full life? In this delicate time, Emergence seeks to explore these ideas through a combination of scripted and devised work. Stories and monologues, written by professional playwrights - accompanied by innovative movement and mask-based performance, will transport audiences to an arresting psychological landscape where all must wrestle with how we choose to emerge from this era in 21st century history…

Please join the writing team of Nico Vilches and Matthew B. Zrebski for a discussion around the theme of Performative Culture. This conversation will have a huge impact on the writing and development of this new musical that will premiere in spring of 2022. Teen West Project always aims to collaborate closely with the Ida B. Wells student body; your voices are critical to this process! You do not need a desire to actually participate in the show to participate in the focus group. Graduated seniors are welcome.

-The show will be performed in intimate seating on the stage. The show will feature a live, small pit ensemble of musicians. 

-The general window of commitment for this show will be March 1 – May 15, 2022.
