Tech Week Posting from your Producer

Greetings, ‘Pool’ Team –

Here we are entering Tech Week on our latest Playwrights West collaboration, and things are going to get busy and intense as we ramp up to opening.  Please read all of the following, whether you be Cast, Crew, Management, or Support (sorry, it's a long one):

-Take Care of Yourself: Be getting rest, quality food, drinking plenty of water, spending a little time with your families, etc.  This process is a stressor on anyone, and it up to each of us to insure we are keeping ourselves healthy in every way!

-Take Care of Your Business: COMMUNICATE with the families, friends, bosses, mentors, counselors, coaches, advisors, etc. that are a part of your life about your obligations over these next three weeks.  It’s a lot, but it’s all been on the schedule.  This is a scheduling-conflict-free time from here out, so consider this a reminder about the COMMITMENT you all made at the outset of this process.

-Take Care of Your Academic Load: We will insure you will have time each day to dedicate to your studies…USE IT!  There is no excuse for falling behind in classes if you plan ahead, use the time you do have available to you, and communicate (there’s that word again) with your teachers and families.  No excuses!

-All Leads, Actors, and Management are called from here out EVERY DAY there’s a call starting Monday, February 1st (tomorrow).  Know your schedule.  If we find you’re not needed, or you’ve accomplished your tasks relative to the day’s work, we’ll be sure and release you ASAP…we won’t waste your time!

-ALL Show Support/Run Crew members are called beginning on Monday, February 8th for the entirety of the call…you’re up!

-Strike is REQUIRED of all Leads, Actors, Management, and Show Support…know the date (2/21) and times (1100am-500pm).  Remember: This is the date we’ve got on reserve in case we need to extend the run of the show, so everyone MUST be here.  Should there be no extension of the run, we’ll accommodate ill members with light duty, but you’re expected to attend unless so ill you missed performances.

-Be checking the Callboard and Blog EVERY DAY for information you need to keep this show running smoothly!

-All Leads, Actors, Management, and Show Support need to submit me an email to mjamie@pps.net with the following information by Wednesday, February 3rd:

-Name
-Role (Character Name or Job Assignment)
            -Grade (Fr/So/Jr/Sr)
            -Bio
                        Guidelines:
-Word Count: 30 Words—Non-Seniors…40 Words Company
-Word Count: 50 Words—Seniors…60 Words Company
-Serious Bios Only, Please
-Potential Inclusions:
--Past Roles
--Thank Yous
--Well Wishes
            -T Shirt Size
            -Allergies to food/Eating preferences

-Tickets are on sale now…SELL YOUR SHOW!  Regardless of all the PR and Publicity tricks, the #1 way a high school company gets patrons in seats is the word-of-mouth of the men and women involved…and it’s not even close!  Send the people important to you to southweststageworks.com for tickets!

-HAVE FUN!  Given all of the work that goes into our productions, this is easy to lose track of…we are a team, doing something we love!

Here we go…

Drama Night Out!!! - Time Sensitive!!!

Hey everyone!

As many of you know, I just opened a show at Theatre Vertigo called I Want to Destroy You.   It is a world premiere of a new play.  The reviews are starting to come in and buzz is building, so the company thinks tickets are going to go fast.  Given there are only 38 seats in this intimate blackbox, I am moving fast on this!

I think many of you would love this show.  It's also a new play, and there are far too few productions of new work.  I have permission to offer you all a $5 ticket for the following performance:

Sunday 2/7 at 7:30p
At the Shoebox Theatre
2110 SE 10th Ave / 97214
2 hours, 20 minutes, including intermission  - so out around 9:50p.

This IS NOT a Wilson sanctioned event.  You would be on your own.  I cannot be there that night, so you'd be representing Wilson Drama on your own wonderful terms.  :)

To get your name on the list, YOU MUST EMAIL ME ASAP.
matthew.b.zrebski@gmail.com
Please tell me how many tickets you want and I will confirm.  Please be serious about your reservation.  It would be horrible to have people reserve and then not show up.  They are doing this as a favor to me and as a way to support students.

A review of the show: HERE

I would rate this PG-13 for some profanity and adult situations.

I hope to hear from you.  There are currently about 28 seats left for us to take!

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Mandatory Dates

As I work to develop a schedule for the company, it's important to remind you that there are mandatory dates for this project.  A handful of you still listed conflicts with some of these dates.  But it's important that you know your conflicts will not be honored.  As you signed your audition form, I'm sure you are aware of this. Better to remind you now.  Should you have concerns, you may always email me at: matthew.b.zrebski@gmail.com

Here is the mandatory dates clause in the audition packet that both you (and guardian) signed:

***IMPORTANT***

CONFLICTS / MANDATORY TIMES
As would be expected with any committed extracurricular, such as athletics, few conflicts will be accepted.  We will try to work around student schedules, but conflicts DO go into the casting decision.  It is expected that this project becomes the #1 extracurricular priority for any student participating.

Consider the schedule on the previous page and note that the following dates are mandatory and not negotiable.  No student should audition if he/she has an unchangeable conflict on these dates.  No exceptions.  The dates are:

Mon. 11/30
Tues. 12/1
Sat. 1/9

All dates & times Mon. 1/25 through Sun. 2/21

Schedule Update!

With PPS now closed on Monday 1/4, we will obviously not have rehearsal. This has thrown off the schedule, so it will not be published this evening as planned; I need time to assess needed adjustments.

We will, however, have a full company rehearsal on Tuesday 1/5 (4p - 6p) for the read through of the new draft - which is really exciting, FYI!

Stay posted for more details and thanks for your continued patience!

Update - New Year Scheduling! - HANG TIGHT

Hello all,

I am excitedly assessing the new draft of the play which was just delivered.

PLEASE NOTE:

1.  The Trees will all be assigned parts - and that will be posted here and on the callboard no later than Monday morning.

2.  Monday 1/4 (4p - 6p) will be a full read of the new draft with the entire cast called.

3.  The complete schedule for 1/4 - 1/15 will be published sometime tomorrow.

Thank you for your patience while everything gets sorted out.  Please come ready this week with energy and a great, professional attitude.  Things are going to get intense and fun - my favorite combo!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
