TW8: AUDITIONS / SCRIPT

Teen West Project:  Year Eight

You Cannot Undo This Action
by Conor Eifler
directed by Matthew B. Zrebski

The time has come, everyone...  This is going to be an incredible project.  I can't wait to enter into the auditions process and begin bringing this new play to life with the talented artists at SWS2.

The Audition Draft can be found HERE.  Please note, this is an initial draft. Intense script workshopping will take place during December rehearsals and rewrites will occur throughout the process as is always the case with new plays!

The Audition Packet is HERE and has tons of important information. It is critical to read the packet carefully and to follow all instructions. Yes, it's long and a little tedious - but all students and families must read it.

The callboard will have the sign up soon (if not already). Here is information you'll find in both the packet and all the callboard.

PLEASE NOTE
Understand that GPA is strongly considered when looking at potential actors for the production. It is imperative that academics not suffer as a result of extra-curricular activities.   A GPA under 2.75 will require an explanation. In addition, all students must provide a printed screen shot from StudentVue at the general audition.

INCLUSION
Everyone is encouraged to come out and audition regardless of grade, age, cultural background, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, or body type. We embrace the spirit of diversity and welcome everyone to the process.

THE AUDITION PROCESS
There is no “general” and then “callbacks” for this show. There are two days of auditions for everyone. All who wish to audition will sign up to participate (on the callboard).

DATES / TIMES
M 12/9                        3:45p – 8:00p
T 12/10                       3:45p – 6:00p

There is no need to prepare anything specific except for having read the play. The audition will consist of movement, spoken voice work, improvisation, and readings from the script.  Actors might be released throughout the days, but all should be prepared to stay all hours on both days. Please come in comfortable/dance/workout clothing and be prepared to work barefoot. Please do not worry if you do not have dance / movement experience. This production has roles for actors of all skill sets. Come to experience the audition process with a sense of joy, experimentation, risk taking, and abandon.

AUDITION CONFLICTS
It may seriously affect casting potential if you have to miss any of the audition process. That said, we also wish to be as inclusive as possible during these two days. If you absolutely cannot clear your schedule for the full time (and no – a piano lesson is not a good excuse), email Matt Zrebski (matthew.b.zrebski@gmail.com) and request an exception.

CASTING ANNOUNCMENT
The cast will be announced via the blog by 10:00p on 12/10. A physical posting will also go up on the callboard by 8:00a on 12/11.  Please note that first rehearsal (mandatory) is on 12/11.

ROLE ACCEPTANCE
By simply showing up, any actor auditioning for the show is saying, “I am excited to accept any role offered.” No requests will be entertained regarding your role preference.  If you get cast and then refuse a role, it will greatly affect future casting at SouthWest StageWorks, so make your decision to audition wisely.
